A total of 38 persons including 35 civilians and 3 security persons died in the incident where Maoiststrapped a public bus in landmine at Badarmudhe stream of Kalyanpur VDC, which lies at Madi area ofChitwan district in mid region of Nepal। 16 women, 15 men and 7 children were among those killed।On June 6, 2005 morning plain clothe security persons boarded in the bus ahead of civilians। The busleft for Bankatta from Baghai of Ayodhyapuri VDC with some more civilians at around 6:30 a.m. Thebus stopped at Kharkatta for some while and when it arrived Kirtanpur of Kalyanpur VDC-4, the buswas packed with passengers even on the hood. As soon as the bus entered Badarmudhe stream that liesat the border of Kalyanpur VDC-1 and 4, the landmine went off. The bus was completely damaged inthe explosion. 32 persons including 3 security persons died on the spot, 4 sent to Basantapur healthpost for treatment and 1 woman sent to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment died on June 6. Similarly, aone and half years old girl undergoing treatment at ICU ward of Medical College, Bharatpur died onJune 14 morning. Besides this 37 persons including 4 security persons were seriously injured in theincident. Maximum of those injured were found mutilated. Locals had rescued the injured persons. 14of those injured were admitted to Kathmandu based Birendra Army Hospital, Chhauni and others wereadmitted at Bharatpur Hospital and Medical College Bharatpur.Security persons had reached the spot after 1 hour 45 minutes. People were upset on the lessactiveness of security persons in the rescue work. Government institution showed concern on thetreatment of injured persons only after June 9.According to eyewitness and rescuer, two bags with magazine and eight weapons were found whiletaking out the dead bodies from the bus.
